Yes! Attending Reunion
Bring us up to date with your life:

I attended UGA until I married Jack in February 1961. He had graduated from the Naval Academy in 1958 and had already finished flight training. Jack had been assigned to an ASW squardon in Quonset Pt., Rhode Island. I arrived there just after a blizzard had dumped 24 inches of snow. The very next day, my initiation into the life of a Navy wife began when Jack left for a two-week cruise on the carrier Wasp out of Boston. The next 20 years seemed to fly by. Mostly they were wonderful years -- interesting, challenging and educational. Along the way (and according to the ships schedule) came John, then Scott and finally Nancy. She is the only one to give us grandchildren, but her five have certainly made up for the boys! An eye hemorrhage ended Jack's flying days, and the Navy sent us to Norfolk, Va. for his treatment. This was a wonderful place to raise a family, so we stayed after he retired in 1980. Jack began a second career in the investment business. When he was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1994, our son Scott took over his business. Without permission and much too young, he died in 2000. He was a good man and we miss him very much. But life goes on, and it is good. I'm grateful for family, friends and good health. I can still do my own house and yard work, swim a mile, workout at the gym, play bridge and help out when needed in our community, at church, and with family --remember those five grandchildren! When I return to Atlanta in September for the reunion, I'll also be coming for my Dad's 91st birthday; two wonderful events I'm looking forward to very much.

Memories of Northside High

I just recall those being wonderful years and having some great teachers!

What have you done in your life that might surprise your fellow classmates?

For the past five years I have been dating a retired Navy captain. The reason I mention this is because he will be escorting me to our 50th reunion. So I thought it would be a good idea to introduce him now, ahead of time, to those of you who read this. Bill served three tours of duty in Vietnam from 1965 to 1968 as strike officer on the Independence and as XO and then CO of Attack Squardon 164. He received two Silver Stars. A carrier-landing accident early in his career almost prevented him from ever walking again. He was a real estate broker and also started his own heavy-utility company from scratch. It's now one of the largest in the Hampton Roads area. Eighty-one years young he has no plans to retire yet. He's a world-class skier, who's still skiing, and likes to hunt deer. Best of all, in my opinion, he's a good cook. He's looking forward to meeting all of you.

Do you still see or speak with old classmates?

Yes, there's nothing like the old friends you grew up with.
